Senior State Championships Wrap Up

March 19th and 20th saw a contingent of HGA athletes from WAG, MAG, TRP and TUM take on the best gymnasts from around the state at the 2022 Gymnastics Tasmania State Championships.

Competition for our WAG Level 8 girls kicked off on Saturday afternoon with the team's events and continued on Sunday with the individual competition. Both HGA girls (Hayley D and Hayley W) competed fantastically over the two days and came away with some personal best scores and were able to showcase the new skills they have been working so hard on in training.

Special mention to Hayley D who came away with 6th in the overall standings and became the 2022 Vault State Champion for Level 8.

Congratulations girls on a wonderful competition!

Our sole MAG competitor Kobi, had an exceptional competition weekend. Also competing across both days, Kobi showed his strength and determination on all 6 apparatus and became the 2022 Level 8 State Champion!

Congratulations Kobi!

HGA’s Trampoline and Tumbling squad was also in action over the weekend. Four of our athletes competed across the 3 trampoline disciplines.

Senior States is the biggest competition of the calendar year for Trampoline and Tumbling and for 2 of our athletes this was their first Senior States. All athletes competing in the Trampoline disciplines must be able to compete with the correct degree of difficulty (Skill Level) for their specific age group.

All of our athletes competed incredibly well and achieved the following results:

Kiera – 1st and State Champion Level 6 Tumbling and Level 6 Double Mini Trampoline

Poppy – 3rd in Level 6 Tumbling

Leni – 4th  in Level 6 Tumbling

Hayley W - 1st and State Champion Level 7 Tumbling

Congratulations athletes!

HGA is tremendously proud of all of our athletes and we hope you are all proud of yourself and your efforts. We look forward to seeing what you achieve next!

A huge thank you also goes out to our coaches for their hard work in training these gymnasts, and to our officials (coaches and judges) for their contribution to the competition.
