2023 Competition Season Kicks Off!

This past weekend the first 2023 competition season really kicked off with WAG, MAG, TRP and TUM athletes all congregating down at Kingborough Sport Centre.

WAG

For WAG, the first competition was the Senior Team Spirit (for Level 6 and above) with senior gymnast, Zoe, representing HGA. After coming back from injuries and being unable to compete in the 2022 season, Zoe smashed her first competition for the year. She competed alongside athletes from Zodiacs and Devonport Gymnastics Club and, as a combined team, the girls placed first overall for Level 8 and each came away with amazing results. Thank you to our attending coaches, Kara and JJ, and to our judge, Hannah D, for their dedication. A huge thank you also goes out to all the younger athletes who to came to support and encourage Zoe.

TRP & TUM

For HGA’s Trampoline and Tumbling athletes the first competition was an Interclub and Qualifier event. It was wonderful to see eleven of our athletes compete across the three apparatus, with the majority of our competitors placing on the podium. Despite a few unexpected crashes our gymnasts were able to overcome nerves and challenges to end the day with smiles on their faces. Thank you to our coaches, Hannah and Leanne, and to our judge Bibiana for making the competition possible. Congratulations to two of our Tumblers who achieved the qualifying scores required to be considered for the State Team, and to all our athletes who worked so hard to make their passes strong and clean.

On top of this, it was also great to see some of our long term, former gymnasts competing strongly, congratulations to Hayley, Holly and Kobi on successful competitions.

HGA is very proud of all of our competitors and their achievements. It was amazing to see so much support from all of our athletes who came down especially, arrived early, or stayed longer to support, not only their team members but also to support fellow competitors from other clubs. Well done HGA!
