HGA Gymnasts Take to the Competition Floor

Our HGA athletes, coaches and judges have been kept busy over the past few weeks with multiple competitions across all disciplines. Our MAG, WAG and TRP teams have been training hard in the gym for the last leg of the competition season, with some very big competitions over the next few months.

MAG

Our Junior MAG boys attended 2 competitions recently. The first in Launceston on the 26th of June and the next in Kingston on the 31st of July. These competitions were the first competition experience our Junior boys have had (outside of HGA), there were many nerves but so much excitement. Coach Claire and Coach/Judge Sam spent time during training sessions talking the boys through the competition and easing the boy's worries.

All boys came away from their competitions with a medal and a smile on their faces, congratulations boys!

TRP/TUM

On the 7th of August, a team of HGA trampolinists and tumblers headed north to Launceston PCYC to compete in the third and final interclub of the year. For all but three of our athletes, this was a chance to shake off the cobwebs and get in some final competition practice before heading off to Queensland for the Australian National Clubs Carnival next month. This meant it was time to try out new skills and new routines, work out what works and what doesn't and prepare their best competition polish.

Special mentions go to the following athletes:

Emily W - 1st Level 4 trampoline and Level 5 tumbling

Melodee - 1st Level 6 trampoline

Maya - 1st Level 5 DMT

Kiera - 1st Level 6 DMT

Bronte - 1st Level 2 tumbling

Overall this competition was a great learning experience for our athletes and highlighted areas of focus for their future training. Congratulations athletes on showing great perseverance and courage.

WAG

The 7th of August also saw our Junior WAG girls (level 3-6) take to the competition floor for their first competition of the year. For some, this was their first competition ever! All gymnasts competed extremely well and should be very proud of themselves.

Special mentions go to:

Level 4 team - 3rd on bars and floor, 4th overall

Level 5 team 1 - 2nd on bars, floor and vault, 3rd on beam, 2nd overall

HGA received the award for best cheering and support across the whole competition. Not only were the gymnasts cheering on their teammates they also cheered on all other clubs and showed great sportsmanship. Amazing work girls!

Our level 5 WAG girls are also heading over to Queensland for the Australian National Clubs Carnival next month, good luck and have fun!

Congratulations to all gymnasts and good luck with your next competitions.

A huge thank you also goes out to our coaches for their hard work in training these gymnasts, and to our officials (coaches and judges) for their contribution to the competitions.
